Synopsis: Four different stories all relating and effected by Watts Riot. Officer Hamkins was always a corrupt cop, racist against African Americans. But on the day of the watts riot, he finds himself helping them and actually protecting them from his fellow officers. Anthony Maine is father to Sherice Maine, who goes out the night before the riots start. She doesn't come back home, and Anthony worries. He must fight through the crowds to find his missing daughter and in the process comes to the conclusion that if African Americans are to be taken seriously they must not cause violence unto others. He finds his daughter, and fights police to get to her, and he is killed by a police officer. Jack and Marie Trimmer run a local liquor store.

Jack is a supporter of the riots and the black revolution, but finds himself and his wife fighting for there lives with fellow African Americans. Although they do not die they fail in trying to protect the store and get seriously injured. Pat And Kathy Doyle could be the only white family living in watts at the time. When the riots start many of there black friends turn against them, but in the end the husband and wife stand up to the police for their African American friends and are arrested as a result.

What the press would say:

Spike Lee leads a team of amazing actors in this compassionate great dramatic and suspenseful film. Spike Lee hasn't made a film this good since "Do the right thing" and I would even go further to say it is his best work out of his entire career. All the acting was grade A in this film, but the three who stand out are Vivica A Fox, Samuel L Jackson, and Brad Pitt. Vivica who is known as a comedic actress slips into the dramatic role as if she has been there all her life. Her role is so touching I couldn't believe it was her acting. Samuel L Jackson is amazing. His performance as the concerned father is one of his best performance to date. But the real news is Brad Pitt. It is this movie that will make Brad Pitt as lovable as Tom Hanks with The AMPAS. His acting is superb and his best performance he has ever done. The real thrill of Watts is its story. A story that looks at the Watts Riot in a different point of view than it was always attended to be looked at. Which is surprising because you think Spike Lee would make the white man the enemy in a Watts film, but he actually makes the movie as a "human Study" flick which makes audience leave theater with almost all their before prejudices vanished. Expect Spike to do well come Oscar season, and I would expect Brad Pitt to get his long overdue Oscar as well.
